No Leak Concrete Sealer
Laframboise & Co. was born from a creative outlet: a hobby that became a passion. What started as a way to unwind by handcrafting concrete vessels and candles quickly turned into a deeper pursuit. While the process brought calm and joy, the frustration came when trying to find an effective sealer that could truly protect concrete containers from wax leaks during burning.
With a background as a paint chemist and a lifelong love of problem-solving, I decided to tackle the issue myself. After reaching out to suppliers, testing formulations, and revisiting my chemistry roots, I developed a concrete sealer that balances performance and simplicity.
Now, I'm proud to share this sealer with fellow makers, especially those who've felt the same frustration I did. Whether you're creating for fun, for sale, or for peace of mind, this product was made for you.
How to Use
Before You Begin
Ensure your piece is clean and free of dust or residue. Shake-free stirring is essential — mix well to fully blend contents without creating bubbles.
Pour Method
- Fill your Hydrostone or concrete vessel with sealer and let stand for 1 minute.
- If not filled to the rim, rotate the vessel to ensure the entire interior surface is covered.
- After 1 minute, pour out sealer into a clean container for reuse.
- Let the vessel drip upside down on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Do not wipe the excess inside the vessel.
- Wipe any residual sealer from the rim of the vessel.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before applying a second coat. Typically, one coat is enough.
- Once finished, allow your piece to air cure for a minimum of 72 hours (3 to 4 days) in temperatures above 15°C (60°F) with humidity between 35–50% before filling with wax. Higher humidity may require longer drying times.
For sealing the exterior: Use a cloth slightly damp with water, dip into sealer, then wipe a very thin coat on the outside of the vessel. Let dry.
Dip Method
- Pour the sealer into a separate, clean container that's large enough to accommodate your concrete or Hydrostone piece.
- Gently dip or rotate the item to ensure full interior and/or exterior coverage.
- Let it sit in the solution for about 1 minute so the surface can absorb the sealer evenly.
- Carefully remove the piece and allow any extra sealer to drain off on its own.
- Place the item upside down on a wire rack to dry thoroughly.
- After around 5 minutes, inspect for any drips and lightly touch up if needed.
- If applying a second coat, wait at least 30 minutes between layers. One coat is generally enough for effective sealing.
- Once finished, allow your piece to air cure for a minimum of 72 hours (3 to 4 days) in temperatures above 15°C (60°F) with humidity between 35–50% before filling with wax. Higher humidity may require longer drying times.
Helpful Tips
- We recommend testing on a spare vessel before full application to fine-tune your method.
- Best used in temperatures between 15°C and 27°C (60°F–80°F).
- Never return used sealer to the original container — store it separately for the next use.
Warning
Keep out of reach of children. Keep from freezing. Store in a climate-controlled area. Close lid tightly after each use.
No Leak Sealer is intended for decorative applications only. Always follow standard candle safety practices. It is not intended for direct contact with flame, burning wick, or sustained heat. Proper wick sizing, wax selection, and candle safety testing remain the responsibility of the candle maker.
